The spirit of New Orleans brought to life through gospel
From Louisiana comes The New Orleans Gospel Choir, a group that brings to the stage the power of gospel and the extraordinary musical richness of one of the world’s most fascinating cities.
New Orleans is much more than the birthplace of jazz. For generations, its churches, streets and celebrations have brought together gospel, spirituals, blues, brass bands and the irresistible rhythms of the Second Line. This vibrant musical universe is precisely what inspires The New Orleans Gospel Choir.
With powerful voices and an energetic stage presence, the group takes audiences on a journey through the roots of African American music, connecting the emotion and spirituality of gospel with the festive spirit of New Orleans. A city where music leaves the churches and takes to the streets, and where every celebration can become a shared experience.
Their show Streets of New Orleans invites us to travel to the banks of the Mississippi and discover the unique blend of tradition, spirituality and celebration that has made New Orleans an essential place in the history of contemporary music.
Gospel, jazz, brass bands, Second Line rhythms and the spirit of Mardi Gras come together in a concert that also evokes the legacy of iconic figures closely connected to the city and its musical tradition, such as Mahalia Jackson, Louis Armstrong and Fats Domino.
The New Orleans Gospel Choir comes to Gospel Canarias Fest bringing the sound, energy and soul of New Orleans to the Canary Islands.
