The South Carolina Gospel Choir is one of the most prominent contemporary gospel groups from the southern United States. Founded in Charleston, South Carolina, as an evolution of the acclaimed F.O.C.U.S. Gospel Singers, the choir has been led since 2005 by Reverend Michael Brown, who has expanded its international reach while remaining true to the roots of traditional African-American gospel.
Its members come from various churches in the Charleston area and have collaborated with major gospel figures such as Hezekiah Walker, Byron Cage, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Karen Clark Sheard, Alvin Slaughter, and Anthony Hamilton, among many others. The ensemble features between 9 and 15 voices on stage, supported by a live rhythm section (organ, bass, guitar, and drums), delivering a powerful, emotional, and richly textured sound.
With a repertoire that spans from traditional spirituals to the more urban influences of soul and R&B, the South Carolina Gospel Choir has performed at numerous international festivals and prestigious venues across the United States, Germany, and Italy. The group is widely recognized for its ability to connect with diverse audiences through the energy, passion, and authenticity of its performances.
